A new Commonwealth Fund infographic highlights data from WhyNotTheBest.org to illustrate the wide variation in rates of early elective deliveries across the U.S. In a few states, there are no early induced deliveries, while in others one of three babies is born before 39 weeks. Babies born too early are more likely to have breathing problems, develop serious infections, and face other complications.
