Sophie Beutel is program associate in the Health Care Coverage and Access program at The Commonwealth Fund. Ms. Beutel joined the Fund in June 2014 as program assistant and was promoted July 2015. In her role, she is responsible for providing daily support for the program with responsibilities ranging from daily administrative and grants management to writing, research and analysis, including tracking developments in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. During college, Ms. Beutel was a summer intern with the State of Rhode Island Department of Health, where she worked on a grant proposal to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for a first in the nation program called Primary Care Trust. During the summer of 2012, she worked for the Canadian Cancer Society, where she facilitated a “SunSense” program directed at skin cancer prevention among youth, creating and conducting surveys on the efficacy of the program, tabulating the results, and drafting the 2012 report. Ms. Beutel graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Science and Society, on the Health and Medicine track.
