Naomi Zewde, Ph.D., M.P.H., is an assistant professor in health policy and management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Her research centers on economic inequality in wealth and in health insurance and examines the ability of public policies to reduce these inequalities. She was previously an assistant professor at the City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy. Her work has been published in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, Health Affairs, and the Review of Black Political Economy, and featured in popular press outlets like Ms. Magazine, the New York Times, and PBS Newshour. Zewde earned a Ph.D. in health policy and administration from Pennsylvania State University and an M.P.H. in health systems management from Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in social work at Columbia University.
