This project complements the Fund’s anticipated Health Affairs article presenting the key findings from the 2015 IHP Survey of Primary Care Physicians with multimedia material for the Fund’s website. It aims to bring the data to life through the narratives of doctors in the U.S. and U.K., who are on the frontlines caring for an increasingly complex mix of patients in a rapidly changing world as health reforms are implemented. In-depth interviews of 20 primary care doctors (10 U.S. and 10 U.K.) from different practice settings and geographic regions would be conducted to provide human depth and context to the Fund’s publication of the survey results. The interviews would capture the “story” firsthand from the doctors and enliven the Health Affairs article with personal reflections of practitioners, their insights, experiences, challenges, and views regarding the salient findings in the published report.
