Hardeep Singh, M.D., M.P.H., is a professor of medicine at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety based at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Over his career, he has influenced health policy and improved patient care through several multidisciplinary quality and safety research and implementation activities. Singh currently represents the Veterans Administration on the National Academy of Medicine’s Climate Collaborative and on the Federal Health Systems Learning Network for climate action. He serves on the executive committee of The Lancet’s newly launched Planetary Health Commission on Sustainable Healthcare and coleads their Environmental Performance and Quality Measures working group. He has received several prestigious awards for his pioneering work in quality, safety, and health system transformation, including the 2012 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) from President Obama and the 2021 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award for Individual Achievement from the National Quality Forum. Singh earned his M.D. from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and his M.P.H. from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and did his residency at the Baylor College of Medicine.
