Matthew Ong

Matthew Ong is an associate editor and medical investigative reporter for the Cancer Letter. His project will examine inequities in cancer care and its ruinous cost for many patients, particularly minorities. He aims to get at grey areas not entirely answered by traditional data points, including those within health care systems and policies. Mr. Ong’s project recognizes that the burden of cancer is not agnostic to race or socioeconomic status, and that racial and ethnic minorities experience cancer disparities that have only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
