Paul Dworkin received his A.B. from Rutgers University and his M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed a pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital in Boston and also served as a pediatric registrar at the Paddington Green Children's Hospital, Saint Mary's Medical School, London. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Ambulatory Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital in Boston, with a special emphasis on developmental and behavioral issues. Following fellowship training, Dr. Dworkin joined the Department of Pediatrics at the West Virginia University Medical Center in 1978, serving as a general pediatrician within the Pediatric Group Practice Clinic and also as developmental pediatrician for the University Affiliated Center. In 1981, Dr. Dworkin joined the faculty of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, serving as Director of Ambulatory Care for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut until 1991 and Head of the Division of General Pediatrics from 1983 to 1998. In 1992, Dr. Dworkin also assumed the position of Director and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, a major urban affiliate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. In 1998, Dr. Dworkin was appointed Professor and Chairman of Pediatrics at the School of Medicine and Physician-in-Chief of Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
