Venice Haynes, Ph.D., is senior director of research and community engagement at United States of Care, where she spearheads the organization’s listening and research work to understand and demonstrate the change people want and need from the health care system – with the goal of driving solutions that put people first. A social and behavioral scientist with more than 15 years of public health experience, her overarching research agenda has focused on addressing social determinants of health, health disparities, and health equity in underserved populations using qualitative and community-based participatory approaches. Haynes has worked on a variety of CDC and NIH-funded projects to address disparities in cancer and other women’s health initiatives through dissemination and implementation of science and evidence-based interventions. Her body of work has also included the provision of technical assistance to community-based organizations across Georgia, North and South Carolina, and has conducted evaluation projects with nonprofit and community-based organizations aiming to address cancer disparities in their respective communities. Over the past four years, she has served as an adjunct professor at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. Haynes earned an M.S. from Meharry Medical College and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina, both in public health.
