Researchers and policymakers have often used Medicare claims data to comment about spending across the entire U.S. health care system. But as information about private health insurance claims has been made available, it's becoming clear there are significant differences between spending patterns in Medicare and private plans, says The Commonwealth Fund's Don Moulds in a new blog post.
