States That Leaned In to the ACA Have Much to Lose

Repealing the Affordable Care Act could cause as many as 30 million Americans to lose their coverage. In a To the Point post, Georgetown Health Policy Institute's Sabrina Corlette, Emily Curran, and Justin Giovannelli explain that nearly one-third of these enrollees reside in the 17 states that embraced the chance to set up and manage their own marketplace. All but one of these states also expanded their Medicaid program and most incorporated the ACA’s consumer protections in their own state insurance laws.
