The Trump administration has made work requirements a hallmark of its Medicaid policy proposals, and the House-passed American Health Care Act also includes such rules. In a new post, George Washington University’s Sara Rosenbaum and colleagues examine recent state legislation and “1115” Medicaid demonstration proposals, which allow the federal and state governments to test innovations in Medicaid, to gain insight into the kinds of policies more states might consider if Congress permits work requirements without the need for special waivers.
