The Dutch Ministry of Health has announced that it will set up a new national registry for patients who have received any form of medical implant, such as a hip replacement or breast implants. Suppliers, producers, and insurance companies will be required by law to provide information on any complications associated with the implants so that these data can also be included in the registry. Access to these data should allow for earlier detection of issues associated with medical implants.
