Investigating Presidential Initiatives to Reinvigorate Mental Health Policy

The project team — including Dr. Frank, Vikki Wachino, John O’Brien, Sherry Glied, and other Brookings staff — will develop a set of strategies for implementing the Biden administration’s proposals in the priority areas listed above. Informed by data analysis, legislative and regulatory reviews, and expert convenings, the team will outline strategies for each priority area in a series of five topical white papers. The white paper series will be accompanied by three technical appendices that: 1) establish the factual platform in each area; 2) outline the analysis of authorities required for implementation of the strategies; and 3) review evidence of the likely impacts of proposed policy mechanisms in each area. A sixth white paper that frames the overarching implementation strategy across topic areas will also be produced.
