The Commonwealth Fund/Harvard University Fellowship in Minority Health Policy is Open to Applicants

<p>The <a href="~/link.aspx?_id=D55D37FED3564F1E848B2F9B14364E83&_z=z">Commonwealth Fund/Harvard University Fellowship in Minority Health Policy</a> is designed to prepare physicians for leadership roles in promoting health policies and practices that improve access to high-quality care for minority, disadvantaged, and vulnerable populations. The fellowship is based at Harvard Medical School under the direction of Joan Reede, M.D., the dean for diversity and community partnership. Up to five one-year, degree-granting fellowships are awarded annually.</p>
<p>Fellows will: 1) complete academic work leading to a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree at the Harvard School of Public Health; and 2) be provided with core fellowship components such as seminars on leadership and health policy, practicum, leadership forums, conferences, site visits, mentoring, journal clubs, and shadowing. The fellowship offers a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree at the Harvard Kennedy School to physicians already possessing an M.P.H. </p>
<p>Physicians who are U.S. citizens and who have completed residency, and who are either board-eligible or board-certified in the U.S., are eligible for the fellowship. The fellowship seeks physicians with evidence of leadership and leadership potential; experience or interest in addressing and improving the health needs of minority, disadvantaged, and vulnerable populations; and the intention to pursue a career in policy, public health practice, or academia.</p>
<p>The application deadline for the 2012–2013 Fellowship is January 3, 2012. Please note: applicants must apply concurrently to the Harvard School of Public Health (deadline December 15, 2011) or to the Harvard Kennedy School (deadline December 2, 2011). </p>
