Federal and State Policymakers Work to Ensure Continuity of Health Care for Consumers

<p>Federal health insurance officials and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners recently issued proposals to protect patients when a doctor or hospital leaves their health plan’s network. </p><p>In a new blog post, Sabrina Corlette, Ashley Williams, and Kevin Lucia of the Georgetown University Health Policy Institute's Center on Health Insurance Reforms review the proposed rule, which they explain is designed to ensure that consumers are able to maintain their relationship with a provider without experiencing undue financial hardship. Such continuity is particularly important for patients in the midst of a course of treatment or a pregnancy, they say.</p>
