How Will the New Continuity-of-Care Protection Affect Existing State Laws?

<p>The Obama administration has released final regulations governing plans sold on the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance marketplaces. In a blog post update, Sabrina Corlette, Ashley Williams, and Kevin Lucia of Georgetown University Health Policy Institute’s Center on Health Insurance Reforms look at the new continuity-of-care protection for consumers in the federally facilitated marketplaces. The protection is designed to ensure that patients in the midst of treatment aren’t left in the lurch if their doctor or hospital is dropped from their health plan’s network.</p><p>The researchers consider the impact of the rule and identify states with similar or more stringent standards.
