<p>Social factors like housing, education, and nutrition all play a pronounced role in health and health care utilization, especially for people with low incomes. With more health care providers and payers recognizing the importance of targeting these crucial determinants of health, KPMG researchers explored the current landscape of social services investment in the U.S. through interviews with payer and provider executives, an extensive literature review, and an advisory council.</p><p>Drawing on this research, a new Commonwealth Fund/KPMG guidebook offers health care organizations practical advice on incorporating social services into their business operations. </p>
