Over 9,000 Nursing Homes Working to "Advance Excellence" in U.S. Nursing Homes

More than 9,000 nursing homes are now participating in the Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Home campaign, aimed at improving the quality of care for nursing home residents. This represents nearly 60 percent of the nation's facilities.

Now in its sixth year, The Commonwealth Fund–supported campaign provides education, training, and support to nursing homes to pursue goals such as preventing unnecessary hospitalizations and facility-acquired infections; reducing pain, pressure ulcers, and antipsychotic medication use; improving residents’ mobility; and making staff assignment more stable and consistent.
