Understanding Trends Among ACA Marketplace Insurers

<p>As part of their ongoing effort to understand trends affecting the stability of the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance marketplaces, Sabrina Corlette and colleagues at the Georgetown University Health Policy Institute reviewed the latest earnings calls and financial filings of seven large publicly traded insurers: Aetna, Anthem, Centene, Cigna, Humana, Molina, and United. </p><p>In a new <em>To the Point</em> post, the authors share their insights, focusing on insurer exits from some marketplaces and expected increases in premiums for 2017. “The most recent round of earnings calls reflects the significant diversity of experience among the publicly traded companies, as well as their diverse approaches to managing costs and serving the marketplace population,” the authors say.</p>
