Why It's Important to Read the Fine Print of Your Health Plan
<p>The Affordable Care Act requires all health plans to fully cover preventive services, but many privately insured adults are not aware of this benefit and may skip care as a result. In a new blog post, Munira Gunja, Sara R. Collins, and Sophie Beutel of The Commonwealth Fund examine the confusion, and how it is affecting consumers' health care decisions.</p><p>The authors point out that consumers with marketplace plans may also be unaware of other services that are excluded from their deductibles, such as generic drugs. In the ACA’s third open-enrollment season, helping consumers better understand their coverage is key to removing barriers to timely care. </p>
