Why Tax Reform Could Be a Serious Threat to Health Care

<p>At first glance, it may appear that Congress has shifted its focus away from repeal of the Affordable Care Act. The House tax proposal released last week doesn’t propose to repeal the ACA’s individual mandate, nor does it fund tax reform with cuts to Medicaid. But in a new post on <em>To the Point</em>, the Commonwealth Fund’s Donald Moulds and Shawn Bishop say the futures of tax reform and health care are intertwined.</p><p>Moulds and Bishop give three reasons why health care spending is still under threat, including the likelihood that the congressional leadership will pay for deficits worsened by the latest tax cuts with cuts in federal spending — either now or later.</p>
