With the 2015 implementation of a law to strengthen health care and health services delivery, the Federal Joint Committee was charged with promoting new models and research aimed at improving care. To fulfill this task, innovation funds were established and endowed with 300 million euro per year from 2016 to 2019. Seventy-five million euro are allocated for health care services research, and the remainder is reserved to promote new models of care. In April, the Federal Joint Committee issued the first calls for grant applications for this work.
