The Health Research Council of New Zealand is offering the elderly population an alternative to nursing homes that involves digital sensors placed in homes and on elders' bodies. A new study, with funding of NZD $150,000 ($106,500 USD) for Massey University, will investigate the effects of using these sensors to relay information via social media to monitor and manage health. Researchers believe the study will allow older people to live at home longer and improve their quality of life.
