In the uncertainty surrounding the Trump administration’s commitment to the ACA’s health insurance marketplaces, several insurers have announced they will not offer plans next year. Countering arguments that marketplace plan choice is a widespread problem, The Commonwealth Fund’s Munira Z. Gunja and Sara R. Collins report that, on average, consumers in 2016 had more plans to choose from than people with employer coverage. The authors also present policy solutions for counties with only one plan option.
