ACA Enrollee Stories: The Law at Work

Darla Volgamore received insurance through the ACA.

For the more than 20 million Americans who gained health care coverage as a result of the ACA, now is a particularly unsettling time. In a new feature article, we highlight the stories of two people who enrolled in Medicaid after their states expanded eligibility. Elena is a graduate student diagnosed with the BRCA 1 mutation and Darla is a retiree who spent nine days in a coma; both say they owe their lives to the ACA.
