CBO Score on House-Passed AHCA: 23 Million Americans Uninsured and Sharp Increases in Premiums for Older People

CBO score estimates that millions will be without health insurance under AHCA

Last week, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its updated estimates for the American Health Care Act (AHCA), the GOP’s bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. The bill passed the House of Representatives earlier this month following the inclusion of several amendments added to gain votes from vacillating members.

In a new post on To the Point, The Commonwealth Fund’s Sara Collins and David Blumenthal, M.D., explain that these amendments do not change the bottom line for Americans: 23 million people would lose their health insurance by 2026 if the bill becomes law.
