Medical Groups’ Structural Integration Not Always Perceived by Patients as Integrated Care

Health care practitioners and policymakers should not assume that the consolidation of medical practices into larger groups necessarily yields improvements in care, a new Commonwealth Fund–supported study finds (Health Affairs, May 2017). Researchers led by Michaela J. Kerrissey of Harvard Business School explored the relationship between medical groups’ structural integration and patients’ perceptions of integrated care.
