Supporting Informal Caregivers in Mental Health in Australia

The value provided by unpaid caregivers who support those with mental illnesses—estimated at AUD $13.2 billion in a new report—is essential to providing many Australians with the help they need. Minister for Aged Care Ken Wyatt said that the federal government is aiming to provide support to caregivers through its Primary Health Networks, which are working with general practitioners, specialists, hospitals, and other health professionals to fill gaps in local services.
