The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology has developed a publicly available framework to guide the development of health information technology resources needed by accountable care organizations (ACOs). Intended as a starting point for provider groups and payers participating in ACOs, as well as developers designing products to fill gaps in currently available technology, the framework explores how technology will be needed to support care coordination, cohort management, patient and caregiver relationship management, clinician engagement, financial management, reporting, and knowledge management.
