Sara Kreindler, D.Phil., a 2010–11 Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice, published two articles in Health Affairs with her mentor from Dartmouth College, Elliott Fisher, M.D., M.P.H. The first article analyzed early tracking data to identify the factors affecting accountable care organizations' development and success. The authors then proposed a model for structuring an evaluation framework for these new health care organizations. In the second article, the authors compared the early experiences of four provider organizations that are participating in the Brookings–Dartmouth Accountable Care Organization Collaborative to identify key factors that sites perceived as enablers of successful ACO formation and performance.

Sue Wells, M.B.Ch.B., Ph.D., a 2012–13 Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice, published an editorial in the Journal of the American Medical Association, with her mentor, David Bates, M.D., M.Sc., of the Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women's Hospital. The piece discusses personal health records and patient portals that allow patients to access their health records, make appointments online, and receive reminders for preventive care.

Joan Costa-Font, Ph.D., a 2012–13 Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice, published an article in Health Policy on publication bias in medical and health services research.
