New Zealand Expands Funding for Youth Mental Health Services

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key announced a new NZ$33 million plan for improving mental health services for youth and young adults. The goal of the new plan will be to provide "faster access to treatment, provided closer to home, and in more flexible ways." To reach this goal, NZ$10 million over four years will be put toward increasing school-based health services to cover 157 secondary schools. Another NZ$2.7 million will go toward online therapy as an option to those who don’t want to see a therapist face-to-face. Funding will also go to youth centers and efforts to reduce wait times for mental health services.
