Since 2011, the Georgetown University team led by Kevin Lucia has tracked state implementation of the Affordable Care Act’s marketplaces and insurance market reforms and presented its findings in more than 40 Commonwealth Fund publications and interactive online maps. Under this grant, the researchers will continue to document the varying approaches to ACA implementation as well as states’ ongoing adjustments. The team also will identify three to five states that have been successful in the areas of enrollment, affordability, and plan quality and explore the possible contributing factors. This work will be informed by the quantitative state-level analyses proposed by Fund grantees Jon Gabel, Sherry Glied, and Mark Hall.
